Previously, an off-the-shelf leather portfolio had been the way Citibank delivered members’ their cards. This had proved to be very expensive and unmemorable.

The challenge was to create a new card carrier that cost a quarter of the previous budget, it had to be produced in NYC and present the card as something special and unique to it's new owner. With follow-up communications continuing this sense of luxury and prestige.
